doin’ work!!

The past few weekends have been BEYOND wedding packed. I have to admit, I’m loving getting stuff done! These weights that have been on my shoulders are getting lighter and lighter ever so slowly.

A few weekends ago Kate, Lynn, and I met Caroline in New York City for bridesmaid dress shopping. We took the train in from South Station in Boston to Penn Station in New York. I HIGHLY recommend taking the train! It took about the same time as it would if we drove, but we could relax and enjoy some down time without having to worry about driving/parking in the city. Plus, there was gin so, you know. I would say it was pretty reasonably priced too! I will definitely do it again.

We met with Corie from Little Borrowed Dress on Saturday afternoon and the girls tried on dresses. It was honestly such a great experience. Connie was beyond nice and helpful and she had every dress they offered in almost every color you could imagine at the show room. This was such a better alternative to just ordering online. Everyone said that they were glad that they tried them on because they are all getting dresses they would never have ordered online. I am so so pleased with the result. Plus, they all looked ah-mazing in the navy color that they have. I am way too excited to see everyone together wearing their dresses! Plus, for $50 (or $150 if you want to buy it), how can you go wrong? 6 billion thumbs up for Little Borrowed Dress!

This past weekend Drew and I got to stay at the Coonamesset in Falmouth (for freeee!) to plan the specifics of our wedding day. They made is super super easy. I think the whole meeting took around 30-45 minutes! It was great! We chose our dinner options (chicken or beef?), table linens, our cake (FUNFETTI. ITS HAPPENING.), where our pictures would be taken, and a whole slew of other things that are not seemingly important, but boy are they. Its nice to have those things squared away already…especially since my wedding brain is on the verge of exploding with invite wording, suit colors, shoe woes, and hair clip options.

Our next Everest is invites. I am finding it nearly impossible to find any sort of stationary company on the Cape that has decent samples of their work. I know that sounds wicked whiney and annoying, but it’s the truth! I have one more option to seek out in Falmouth. If they don’t work out, then its off-Cape we go! I am really trying to keep it to a local place so I can talk with them face to face and find exactly what I want. I am sure and do a wonderful job with invites, but ordering my invites online scares the hell out of me and I don’t think I can bring myself to do it unless I absolutely have to. Anyone with suggestions- I’m all ears!

We are officially 5 months away from the big day. Drew and I decided that we need to stop watching Scrubs all night after work and actually do wedding stuff. We say this, but do we mean it? Debatable. Ask us again in March when I am completely bald and Drew has gained 56 pounds due to stress eating reeses’s peanut butter cups.

PS- my toenail fell off, so that’s gross.

I feel like I’ve started nearly every entry the same way: “sorry”. I’ve been neglecting the blog and for that I apologize. However- we have actually been able to get a few things done!

A few weeks ago, my bridesmaid Caroline met Andrew and I out in Amherst and took our engagement pictures. We have only seen a few so far, but I am loving them already. Here are a few of my favorites:

Caroline and Paper + Frame did a great job setting everything up and making us feel comfortable. I can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures!!

This past weekend I had the worst cold I’ve had in years. Probably ever. I’m relieved to be semi-over it.

Earlier today Drew, my mom and I met with Jennifer at CMS Flora in Bourne and talked flowers. She was able take all the pictures and descriptions I’ve been sending her over the past few weeks and visualize what we want. I feel so relieved to have the flowers under control. She talked to us about the centerpieces, the bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, the groomsmen and groom’s boutonnieres, corsages, and church flowers. And best of all- we came in under budget. PUMPED. Its so important to find a place that will actually sit and talk with you…I’ve read that a lot of places will just have you fill out a questionnaire 8 months before your wedding and you don’t hear from them until the day of. Ugh, I can feel my anxiety rising just thinking about it.

We also booked the hotel room where I will be staying the night before the wedding, getting ready the morning of, and where we will be staying the wedding night. The Flying Bridge Restaurant is owned by the Coonamesset Inn in Falmouth which is gorg. I was actually a contender for the reception. They gave us a 10% discount (hollaaaa) since we are using one of their restaurants for the reception. The wedding suite is HUUUUGE and so cute inside. The perfect amount of room for myself and the bridesmaids to get ready and for getting pictures taken.

I feel like we’ve made a lot of progress in the past few weeks. Its all little things & baby steps, but its going to help so much knowing that they are out of the way come crunch time. Only 8 more months to go! (i’m throwing up right now).

Until next time…hopefully sooner than later!
